: Sweet Potato
Directed by: Mike Nichols
Starring: Harrison Ford, Annette Bening
One moment in time can change everything in your life, and Henry Turner (Harrison Ford) learns this lesson in spades. He is a successful lawyer who seemingly has it all, but doesn’t know it (hmm, that sounds a little familiar, but what the heck). A tragedy leaves Henry with no memory and seriously impaired. As he recovers, he learns that returning to “normal” means living a lifestyle he no longer wants. His wife (Annette Bening) and daughter (Mikki Allen) like the “new” Henry better, and, as he faces the nagging truth that he will never be the same, he realizes he does too. Ford and Bening seem like real people coping with adversity, and learning to love one another all over again. Even the casting of Mikki Allen felt real; she’s natural and cute in a regular way. This potato is ripe for the picking.
